We have one life and don’t know how long it will last. We live life either knowing what we want to go after or we wait for things to happen to us. Some things are reachable and in our control and others are not.

Control the controllable!

Zindagi na milegi dobara (ZNMD) is a phrase in Hindi that loosely translates to, “you don’t get to live this life again.

That along with two more phrases: “You will never know unless you try” and “what’s the worst that can happen?” were the guiding principles for so many things that I did in 2022. I was able to act on so many things and pursue other things I wanted to do.

  • I filed for divorce. I took charge of how I wanted to live my life and put the worst years behind me. No regrets.
  • I went on a solo trip, inspired by many others on Medium. The worst thing that happened was I got locked in the bathroom of a cruise ship for about 30–40 minutes. I survived to tell the tale.
  • I did a free fall jump from a zipline in Costa Rica. My heart was in my mouth for a second, but it ended well. I would do it again. Now I am visualizing sky diving over The Palms in Dubai in the future.
