Absolutely loved this article and you are right about teaching children about death and dying. We seem to find the need to protect them by not talking about it openly. For the first time (for them), I had my teenaged kids to attend an open casket funeral for the first time last week because I thought they were old enough to process it all. Perhaps, I could have done it sooner had I not been so protective.
