I am sorry for what you and your mother had to endure. There are educated women in the US who are victims of DV and do not wish to come forward to "save face" in society. They tell her children not to share what goes on at home with fear that social services will take action. Even with the law on their side, many choose to remain silent.

You did all the right things by seeking therapy, and I am glad your mother is free from this. You've probably already watched it, but the movie "It Ends with Us" was a good reminder of this generation of women recognizing the signs and ending the pattern of putting up with it.
