At least in my case, my ex- assigned so much importance to what he did and how much he made as a point to show that he was the bread-winner and the reason for our existence. His ego was so big that he was walking around the house with his crown. The easiest place for them to take control is over the finances. And research shows that women hardly come out ahead financially in a divorce.
