Having come from a very toxic and competitive academic world in India where I felt so much pressure as a teenager, I laid off my kids in the United States. But like you said they feel the pressure from their peers and environment. I am all for rewriting the story line or allowing them to slow down to figure things out, but I get the feeling they are not.
