I hear you and I felt the same. However, the very fact that these are acceptable and expected behaviors (i.e., kissing on the first date, going to their place early on) tell us that there is a sizeable population who engage in that kind of behavior. That doesn't mean we drop our standards by any means. But in the midst of what I call a zoo, there is someone out there, as genuine as you are, looking for a meaningful connection. For all the reasons you state about why people are so engrossed in their own lives, online dating can be considered one of the avenues to meet new people among other more organic ways.
