I’m sorry for your loss. I love the analogy with the lamp and the oil. I could relate to you and a husband consumed by alcohol. Mine was a functioning alcoholic but he never admitted it. Our marriage failed for a lot of other reasons but the dependency on alcohol to numb his brain everyday was one of them. That meant he wasn’t there for me and the kids because he was busy self medicating to relieve stress.
