Have you heard of Indian Chinese or Indo-Chinese Cuisine? Have you tasted it?

If you like spicy food with a burst of flavors and food that will bring each of your taste buds to life, then you should try Indian Chinese food. It is by far one of my favorite cuisines.

History

India shares borders with China on the north-eastern side of the sub-continent and there has been an exchange of food and culture. But Indian Chinese cuisine has its origins in the eastern city of Kolkata (previously known as Calcutta) when the city was the capital of the British empire. Chinese Hakka traders settled in the city in the late 1700s and started cooking food with a combination of Chinese and local ingredients.

The Cuisine

Indian Chinese cuisine combines the spicy flavors from Indian cooking with ingredients like soy sauce and white vinegar, giving rise to a fusion food that is to die for! (Not literally, please).

The spice from the red and green peppers (called chillies in India), the saltiness from the soy sauce, the tanginess from the vinegar, the sweetness from tomato ketchup along with must-have aromatics like ginger, garlic, and green…
