It happens to the best of us. It took me days to get over all the harsh things that were said to me. I couldn't fathom how someone who says they love you can say those things. The apology came in a nano-second, but it was too much to process. Yes, it's trauma and the wounds take time to heal. Acknowledging what happened and writing about it helps.
