I've had my share of incidents using public transportation to travel to school in India. In retrospect, I don't think I came home to report the incidents back to my mother. Not even as a way of venting my frustration. And I most definitely do not remember talking to my father or brothers about it. This brings me to the point that we need to teach little girls to speak up about these incidents to raise awareness. As I grew older, I used to fight back or lash out at these men. But I had to be careful that they were not in a gang.

Gosh, you know what the joke of all of this is when I think back? I was in a public fair in town with my parents. Some guy had touched my mom, and instead of telling my father about it, she told me about it!

That highlights the point about how uncomfortable girls/women are about speaking up!
