Joanna, I like the orange peel theory. I am similar to you, I go out of my way to engage in acts of service for my friends and family. However, I had a husband who showed his love by buying expensive things. In the absence of his presence as a partner and co-parent, I couldn't be bothered for the gifts I received. So I looked like the ungrateful now. However, I would have loved it if he would have peeled the orange for me.
