Having lived in Tokyo, I know what you mean by the constant feeling. I have relatives in Northridge whose house split into two with that one. I experienced one of 7.4 magnitude in Tokyo, with the epicenter 100 miles from where we lived. The city is built to withstand the movement, so we were safe.

Yes, it is like being on a ship. Your body becomes sensitive to the movement.
