Love the analogy and no it is not a poor one. I never considered myself to have the “green thumb” as I was pretty adept at killing all the plants I bought. It took time and practice and now I have my plants for many years. I do think it’s a great analogy- give what the relationship needs to let it grow, not what you think it needs or is easy to give.
