Loved the entire article, humor about the quirks included and I can relate to all of it. Having been in a relationship for two years, I am beginning to think whether the other person understanding me is a futile expectation.

There's just too much history for why we have our quirks and the person we meet in our 50s is so far removed in history from why we formed our quirks in the first place. For example, I don't think my boyfriend will ever come close to understanding my parenting style that is based on changing patterns from my childhood AND has nothing to do with someone like him who has never had children and doesn't have that entity to think about. You know what I mean?
