I love to write. But with all the writing I do in my journal, for work, and here on Medium, I only average about 6 or 7 articles each month.

Of all the things I was excited about this year, it was the fact that I didn’t have to teach this semester. Yipee yay, I thought. I can spend the time to write more. I want to aim for at least 10–12 articles each month.

Becoming a Friend of Medium motivated me to read more and engage more in this community.

My excitement soon fizzled out when I found an error in my workload calculation and learned that I needed to teach one course after all.

Between new fitness goals, nutritional meal planning, parenting, a full-time job, spending time with my boyfriend, playing tennis, and socializing with friends, where do I find the time to write?

Oh, I forgot to mention my new responsibility as editor of a peer-reviewed journal in addition to my full-time job. Yah!

I’ve stopped watching any kind of television. Previously, I used to turn on the Tennis channel to watch the matches. It was easier to turn off and leave instead of binging on a show and being hooked until it ended. I don’t miss TV at all. Talk to me in two weeks when the Australian Open starts. Yikes!

The only way forward is to set a dedicated time to write on Medium. I will have to set aside 30 minutes to an hour each day.

Drop everything and write! Ugh, I haven’t had a chance to do my wall pilates session for today. 🙄

Do you struggle with finding time to write too? Please do share good habits or tips that work for you to be a consistent writer.
