My household was the same. My dad would accompany us on temple trips because he was interested in seeing the operations and if things improved, and of course the food! I also realized that much of being a Hindu was a way of life living in India, and much of that is difficult to simulate in the US. My children have no exposure to their faith other than some rituals that I follow, again more so to keep up with traditions. The next generation will have their own answers about religion and faith and find their own path.
