Nicole, great piece that many of us can relate with! I think the work culture and the race to success is particularly bad in the United States. It's a lose-lose proposition for most women trying to do it all. Something has got to give. And now as a divorced women, I see it's even worse in terms of trying to reinvent myself and start life over, trying to see how I can afford to live on my own. Except for not having the family unit, I don't think much has changed for my ex.

I try to tell my daughter to pursue careers that she has her heart in but she does feel the pressure to join the rat race.
