That's the bottom line. And if I may add - Kindness without judgment should be the gold standard. I wouldn't give the man props for helping you out because he lost points (in my eyes) on judging you based on your appearance.

Don't be so hard on yourself and how you are slacking on your appearance. The pandemic did it to all of us, and I continue to stay quite casual when the occasion doesn't call to bring out my heels and work pants.
