This is a great read, Mike. I was born Hindu and we workshop the Buddha as an incarnate of Lord Vishnu. I too wondered about his life story. But then again, it’s quite similar to the Mahatma Gandhi. While Gandhi dedicated his life to the nation and his teachings of non-violence are heard internationally, he was a failure as an absent father to his sons. Perhaps one of looking at it is that great men can’t have it all. Something is gotta give and in these two cases, it was their families.
