Trying to answer the WHY will take several dimensions. As far as Indian men are concerned, as a society we are conservative and not open about many issues like dating, sexuality, and even healthy friendships with the opposite sex. It doesn't help that women are objectified and made to look like damsels in distress needing a man to save them. The narrative is changing with these new OTT Netflix series. I'm sure you've watched Bombay Begums showcasing multiple women and their strengths.
Yes, boys form their image/ opinions about women based on what they see in their immediate environments. How a dad treats the mother in the house makes a huge difference. Men have to be good role models and treat the women around them with respect. That's just a start. I have more to say, but maybe it will be its own post. :) Keep writing and sharing your experiences.
