We were in France over the summer and my boyfriend banged his head against a metal staircase on a Saturday morning with a gash that needed stitches. I had to drive him to the nearest ER which was 30 minutes away in Perpignan. We waited around for over an hour to be seen and 3 stitches costed $75! The bill would have been in the thousands in the US. France is doing something right with healthcare!
