Yes, that is what the data show. In some cultures, not just the emotional void but the physical void of their spouses caring for them through decades of being together. My father passed 8 years ago, but my mother wouldn't entertain the idea of finding another companion. Culturally it's not considered appropriate, and rare. I am glad you are open to the possibility and should be.
