You are being too hard on yourself. It's great that you were able to pursue your interest in tennis at 32 and stay with it by taking lessons. Tennis is a very technical sport and it takes time to make progress. The good news is that if you are athletic and have good eye-hand coordination, you can improve leaps and bounds in a short period of time....as long as you play frequently.

One of the benefits of playing tennis from a young age is to learn to accept defeat and learn from those losses. Tennis players play a tournament each week with the exception of the grand slams that span two weeks. If they are not winning the tournament, they are losing every week. It's a really humbling experience.

And the best part about recreational tennis is that we pay to play the sport. There is a level for every person and every age group. Everybody loves to win, but right set your expectations by asking what is it that you want from the sport?
