You may have a point about a boost being the luck of the draw. I am astounded by the sheer volume of articles that are published each day. The stats on views vs read is an indicator of the traffic that most stories yield. There probably should be a more equitable algorithm but in the absence of that, it looks like a close network of loyal readers is what we have to rely on.
