You should ask Indians about turmeric. However, unless someone has a severe cold and congested chest, I wouldn't recommend uncooked turmeric. Most Indian dishes have turmeric, and it is a pinch that goes into it at the beginning stages of cooking. An important accompaniment to turmeric is black pepper in small quantities. I don't get the new buzz about adding turmeric to everything and anything - it's absurd. I would never add turmeric to anything uncooked like a smoothie! AND I promise you I don't have any issues with odor from my armpits.
